We were up early today to catch our bus up further north to the historic town and former capital of Laos Luang Prabang.
The journey totalled 6.5 hours in the end along the craziest roads we have ever seen. Hairpin bend after hairpin bend, we climbed higher into the mountains, the view was stunning. Along the way we passed through mountain villages giving us a glimpse of rural Laos life.
We arrived in Luang Prabang early evening, checked into our hotel and then headed out to see the town. The night market was in full swing selling lots of colourful things like tapestries, scarfs, jewellery and wood. The lanterns glowing along the streets looked inviting and pretty, along with some great French Colonial architecture. We had a Traditional dinner this evening and then stopped off at a bar for our first beer Laos of the day, before another walk to explore the river side and quaint streets.
