Day 18 – Hoi An to Phu Quoc πŸ‡»πŸ‡³

Today is yet another travel day when we say goodbye to beautiful Hoi An and head to Phu Quoc, anΒ island off the coast of Vietnam.

After flying to Ho Chi Minh City we then boarded another short flight over to Phu Quoc, it’s felt like most of today has been spent in an airport, but we arrived on the island late afternoon and got driven to our next home – Spring Garden Homestay.

We’re staying in the Ong Lang beach area of Phu Quoc, which is a small area with a few bars and restaurants, but mainly hotel resorts. We checked into our room and were greeted by our hosts Xian and Mr Phong and then headed straight out to get to know our new surroundings.

The sun sets in Vietnam at around 5.30pm at the moment and as an island famed for it’s beautiful sunsets we walked down to the beach which is around 10 minutes from where we are staying. Lined with silouhetted palm trees and orange skies this was a beautiful first impression of Phu Quoc. Although the walk home in complete darkness was a little scary… the small roads are lined with thick trees which were alive with the sounds of bugs.

We got dinner this evening at a small bar just around the corner from Spring Garden… which was complete with a cute puppy.
