Day 15 – Dickwella to Hikkaduwa 🇱🇰

This morning we’re heading off to our next beach Hikkaduwa. We get picked up at 11am by a taxi and make our way along the coast.

Arriving at about 1.30pm we’re greeted by our Australian host Brett at the gates of Dancing Mango. As we go through he shows us our room, which is simply beautiful with the biggest bed we’ve ever seen and such lovely design details, including an open air shower. Brett & Sherylee our hosts have two rooms for guests in the grounds of their beautiful home, with such a peaceful garden and a fresh salt water lap pool. We’re in love with the place, and can’t wait to have a calm few days relaxing by the pool.

We head out in the afternoon down the road to Hikkaduwa, quite a well trodden area the main road is full of shops and restaurants as well as larger hotels and guest houses. We quite like that we’re staying a 10 minute walk away from the hustle and bustle, but happy we have so many choices for food and drinks. Really hungry we choose a beach side restaurant called the Den, we both have curry which actually turns out to be pretty decent. After that we check out the beach, and as Dancing Mango is self-catered breakfasts, we pick up some coco pops and milk from the super market!

Tonight we go back out to Hikkaduwa and find an Italian restuarant, piqued by the amazing reviews on trip advisor for their pizza we give it ago. Sadly even by Sri Lankan Pizza standards we didn’t think it was that great, the cheese was an overly strong cheddar, but we ate it and it filled us up!
